Completion of a two-decade-long existence is definitely a suitable opportunity to review the past years. However, the International Documentary Film Festival Ji.hlava is looking further, to the future. Twenty-six Czech and foreign personages bound to the IDFF Ji.hlava were given a visionary question: Will documentary film exist also in 20 years? And if it does, what will it look like? The collection of answers tells us, apart from other things, that mainly available technologies will play first fiddle in the following 20 years. The Hungarian filmmaker Peter Forgács states: “No sooner than in the twenty years we will learn whose answer is correct.”
